There is much talk in developmental conversations about the sensory-motor systems, and for good reason. The sensory-motor systems literally develop us. Without these systems our ability to think, organize our thoughts, regulate emotions, and conceive of a future would not be possible. These systems are mostly referred to as the following: Vision (Seeing), Auditory (Hearing and Listening), Olfactory (Smell), Gustatory (Taste), Tactile (Touch), Proprioceptive (Body Sense), Vestibular (Balance), and Interoception (Internal Regulation).
