START HERE

You see it in the clients who work hard but don't have carry over.

The kids whose regulation never quite takes hold. The adults whose skills improve in the clinic and dissolve in real life. Something foundational is missing — and the standard model keeps trying to build the second floor before the ground floor is there.

That foundation isn't a mystery. Human development — regulation, coordination, resilience, attention, belonging, mental wellness — is built through reciprocal, sensory-rich interaction with the living world. Not as enrichment or adjunct therapy but as the biological medium through which human capacity is constructed in the first place.

When that medium has been largely absent from a client's life, the foundation is incomplete. And when it is absent from clinical training, practitioners are left trying to rehabilitate what was not yet habilitated — without a framework that explains the difference, or what to do about it.

NatureLed™ is that framework. It gives you the biological understanding, the clinical language, and the practical tools to finally address what your clients actually need at the root.

And at a moment when technology and AI are rapidly reshaping healthcare, the NatureLed™ Approach strengthens the very things that makes OT the profession of the future: embodied presence, perceptual attunement, relational regulation, the ability to support real human participation in real environments and meaningful activity. Rather than competing with technology, NatureLed™ practice clarifies and elevates the distinct value occupational therapy brings to a wildly unknown future.

How is NatureLed™ Different?

NatureLed™ doesn't ask you to go outside. It asks you to understand why outside is where we were designed to become human — and to use that understanding wherever you practice.

I WANT THE MASTERCLASS

Our clients are struggling.

The environment is the key to client and therapist success.

You were trained in evidence-based practice. You document, adapt, and problem-solve. You are skilled. And still — your clients plateau. Your most meaningful goals stall. The work that once felt alive has started to feel mechanical.

What your training never told you is that the human nervous system does not develop, regulate, or heal in isolation from its environment. It was calibrated across millions of years in dynamic, sensory-rich, living landscapes. Regulation, coordination, attention, resilience — these are not skills that emerge from synthetic environments and forced engagement. They emerge from reciprocal relationship with the living world.

When we remove that context and replace it with four sterile walls, we are not just limiting therapy. We are working against the biological conditions that make therapeutic progress possible in the first place. Your frustration is't burnout. It is the correct response to an incomplete model.

Other trainings hand you a recipe.
NatureLed™ teaches you the biologyso you can reason your way through any client, in any setting, without a script.

Rather than handing you a recipe, NatureLed™ teaches you how to cook with what is already alive around you — the slope of the land, the way light moves through leaves, the textures underfoot, the pauses between birdsong. You learn to work with the living ingredients of your own place, wherever you practice, and to let those ingredients shape your clinical reasoning.

While other programs focus on getting clients outside to play — a beautiful and necessary beginning — NatureLed™ goes deeper. You come to understand how environmental context works directly with the nervous system: how it shapes perception, regulation, movement, meaning, and participation over time.
Nature is no longer a backdrop — it becomes your collaborator.

This pathway is for you if:
  • You are an OT, OTA, OT student, or allied health professional
  • You feel the gap between your training and what your clients actually need
  • Your most complex clients are plateauing and you want to understand why
  • You work in a traditional setting and want tools that translate inside it
  • You are experiencing clinical burnout and want a sustainable path forward
  • You want clinical language that supervisors and insurers will respect
This might not be the right fit if:
  • You are looking for a one-size-fits-all set of outdoor activities to add to your existing toolkit
  • You want a quick certification without deep clinical integration
  • You are not yet grounded in OTPF, sensory integration, or clinical reasoning
  • You are looking for a program that tells you exactly what to do in each session
  • You want compliance instead of connection

Professional Confidence and Scope.

“NatureLed gave me the confidence to really be the OT in the room — to expand beyond just handwriting and feel certain about my role as an occupational therapist. I now see my setting differently. I see my clients differently. I see myself differently."

A foundational framework

“NatureLed completely shifted how I see nature in my practice. I used to think of it as a tool or resource, but now I see it as a foundational part of who we are as humans. That shift has been so influential in how I practice today. I feel much more confident advocating for nature as a primary part of occupational therapy, because I see its impact on regulation, connection, and participation every single day.”

"The training helped us support tough behavior instead of just deal with it. So many aha moments. Our staff feels more confident working with neurodiverse learners. It made my job easier because it made my staff's job more effective."

School Director, California outdoor school

I wasn't ahead of the field by accident. I was just paying attention to what the research kept showing.

1996 — Senior OT thesis: "The Loss of Biodiversity and Its Impact on Human Health"
Before "nature-based therapy" existed as a phrase, the research was already pointing toward one conclusion: nature is not a therapeutic tool. It is a necessary condition for human health.

2003Co-founded a nonprofit for nature-connected family health: Teaching parents and community how sensory engagement, movement, curiosity, and outdoor exploration are essential for growing healthy humans — long before this language entered clinical discourse.

2005  Began co-facilitating workshops with Jon Young and 8 Shields InstituteTeaching at multi-day, large and small group workshops nationally and internationally.

1996 —Three decades of OT practice across every clinical setting: Early intervention, public schools, clinics, home health, nursing homes, community programs, outdoor schools. Across all of them, the same pattern: interventions failing because the environmental context for healing had been removed.

Now —The NatureLed™ Pathway — built for the profession that OT was always meant to beNatureLed™ exists so you don't have to choose between evidence, ethics, and what you intuitively know works. It gives language, structure, and clinical grounding to what practitioners already sense: that reconnecting people with the living world isn't extra. It's foundational.

What the NatureLed™ Framework Does Differently

NatureLed™ is an evidence-informed, occupation-centered framework that uses a nature-connection model to re-engage clients in relationship with the living world — fast-tracking healing by restoring the sensory, emotional, and neural conditions where therapeutic progress naturally emerges.

It helps you move from:

  • Exercises → everyday function
  • Isolated skills → participation that transfers
  •  Forced engagement → intrinsic motivation

Clients engage more fully because the activity matters to them.
Therapists work more sustainably because the environment shares the load.

Say Yes to a More Meaningful Way of Practicing, Leading, and Living.

Stepping beyond traditional systems requires a broader lens. If you’re hesitating, it’s likely because you’re thinking responsibly.

How do I meet goals without it looking unstructured?

How do I manage safety, risk, and liability responsibly?

How do I explain this clearly to supervisors or administrators?

How do I do this without adding more complexity to an already full workload?

You need clear frameworks, clinical reasoning, and practical systems that make this work ethical, effective, and defensible in real-world settings.

That’s exactly what the Next Generation OT professional pathway was built to provide.

Green leafy plant branches with slender leaves set against a black background evoke images of nature schools, where the beauty of the outdoors inspires learning.

You don't need to be an outdoor expert

to get started.

You already know how to assess risk, document goals, and create safety.

The Next Generation Practitioner  pathway shows you how to apply those same skills beyond four walls, with clear clinical rationale.

The NatureLed™ Framework is designed for real constraints — limited gear, tight schedules, changing conditions — and often reduces effort by letting the environment do more of the work.

The NatureLed™ Framework brings meaning and context back to intervention, making what you already do, work and feel better.

Reminding you why you became an OT in the first place.

Return To Our Neural-Nature Networks And Start Thriving

For too long, systems shaped by behaviorism and disconnection have narrowed our work—
dulling the senses, fragmenting experience, and separating therapy from real life.

NatureLed™ restores what humans evolved to depend on:
the sensory, emotional, and neural networks shaped not in clinics or classrooms, but in forests, grasslands, and living landscapes.

This Training Is for You If You Want To:

  • Integrate nature-connection skillfully into sessions, programs, and real-world OT or allied health practice
  • Understand how sensory processing, emotional regulation, and environment work together
  • Support motor, perceptual, and functional skills in context, not isolation
  • Use practical, evidence-based tools that transfer beyond the session
  • Prevent burnout by restoring your own ecological and emotional baseline

NatureLed™ is where therapy becomes life again.

In theory and in practice.
